Need Any Support Living At Risk for Huntington’s Disease?
“Being at risk is dying a little each time you drop a spoon.
Being at risk is looking at your brothers and sisters, wondering which one of you will be the first to go. This constant pressure, day in, day out, year after year, takes a heavy toll…I feel at times that being at risk has taken away my right to love and be loved.”

An often unmet need exists for individuals that are at-risk to get together with others who are “swimming” in similar waters. There are some resources that exist on-line and written materials but often something more is needed. The HDSA Center of Excellence at the University of Rochester is interested in broadening our support to those at-risk. We would like to start a bi-monthly gathering of those at-risk. This would be chance to talk and meet others in our area who are trying to deal with a variety of issues related to living at-risk for Huntington’s disease. We would meet in the early evening at an off-site location in Rochester, NY starting this summer. If you are interested or would like more information about this new program please contact Amy Chesire, LCSW-R at 585/341-7519 or email her at amy.chesire@ctcc.rochester.edu.
